Magnoliids, also known as Magnoliidae or Magnolianae, are a clade of flowering plants comprising more than 10,000 species, including magnolias, nutmeg, bay laurel, cinnamon, avocado, black pepper, and tulip tree. They are the third-largest group of angiosperms after eudicots and monocots, characterized by trimerous flowers, pollen with one pore, and usually branching-veined leaves. Some members are among the earliest angiosperms and share anatomical similarities with gymnosperms, such as stamens resembling male cone scales of conifers and carpels on a long flowering axis. According to molecular clock calculations, the lineage leading to magnoliids split from other plants about 140–150 million years ago.

The classification of magnoliids has been subject to varying taxonomic systems. The name 'Magnoliidae' is a botanical subclass name, while 'magnoliids' is an informal name not conforming to the International Code of Nomenclature for algae, fungi, and plants. The circumscription of a subclass varies with the taxonomic system, but it must include the family Magnoliaceae. Under the PhyloCode, the group has been redefined as a node-based clade comprising the orders Canellales, Laurales, Magnoliales, and Piperales. Chase & Reveal proposed 'Magnoliidae' as the name for all flowering plants, with 'Magnolianae' for the four orders.

Acetogenins from Annonaceae have anti-leukemic, anti-malarial, anti-tumor, and anti-HIV properties in laboratory studies. The classification of magnoliids remains complex, with different systems (APG, Cronquist, Dahlgren, Thorne) placing the group at varying ranks and with differing circumscriptions.
